Thoughtfully designed day-by-day plans to experience the soul of McLeodganj at your own pace.
Tibetan culture in the Himalayan foothills
McLeodganj was established in 1905 as a British hill station, and its name is derived from Lord Elgin, the then-Viceroy of India, who chose the site for its sanatorium. Today, it is a thriving Tibetan community, with the Dalai Lama's residence at the heart of the town. The town's unique blend of Tibetan culture and British colonial architecture makes it a fascinating place to explore. Visit the Bhagsu Nag Temple, trek to the top of Dhauladhar for breathtaking views, or simply wander through the narrow streets and soak up the atmosphere. As you walk through McLeodganj, the scent of incense and Tibetan cuisine fills the air, and the sound of chanting monks can be heard from the monasteries.
